So I called my "sister" last night and told her this idea. She asked if I was high. So hopefully I can ficus on the gamer as well as the stoners...
Over the weekend I am going to cut out some cardboard hexs and try to try to work out my rules for using green army men and toy dinosaurs to play a 30-60 table top game. I'm wanting to keep the rules simple enough so that a grade school age kid can play it.
The monster will have the hit point and damage advantage, but the army men will have the strength of numbers. I'm thinking a simple dice system. Throw a six sider and if it's odd you hit and even you miss. Then roll a d6 for damage (for the army guys).
I'm also thinking of making a few cards out of card stock. Not sure if I want them dealt before hand (limited number) or something to trigger a card being drawled in game, maybe reach a special hex? The cards will be a good or bad effect.
Some ideas I had while driving to work were: Call in an Airstrike; Mad Scientist; New Monster Ability; Friendly Fire.
I'm brain storming a way to a co-op game play and rules for playing the monster.
Another angle I want to try is to play up the camp level of the 1950's B Movies.
I think there is a tabletop game version of drive thru RPG. I'm thinking of offering it as a "pay what you want" option as well as some sort of copy-left. Let your friend have a copy of it but don't sell it. I mean I know publishing it as a PDF will mean it is ripe to be pirated but at the same time I figure if I make it under $5 people will buy it.
