I was never a big grease monkey. Some of my friends are and were mechanics....
... I seriously wish that they would make cars a little bit bigger now in days. Not like SUV big big as in being able to get to the freaking thing you need to get to. Let's make it so you need to loosen an engine mount to get to the starter. Let's make it so you need a special $100 tool to get that last spark plug out for a tune up.
Back in my day (carburetors) you could look at an engine and get an idea of how it works. Now in days us old folks feel like a monkey trying to figure out a toilet!
Hopefully won't crush myself in the next few hours. And maybe find the loop hole in my rule. Brakes are fairly easy but used to be a PitA with the springs and all.

I worked in a garage for a little while, and I agree with you. Changing the oil filter is a perfect example, the modern cars, you have to break a wrist to just get at the thing, let alone apply any twisting force to get it loose or put the new one back on there.

Oh man it was a total cluster fuck! Couldn't snapped a bolt (lug nut), couldn't get the bolts on any of the driver's side off, was only able to get the caliper off the other side, but not the rotor. The piston in the caliper got stuck out (and no c-clamp). Drove me crazy enough so I took it to the garage. If the damned thing was a horse I'd be BBQing tonight
